25th Anniversary International Day of People With a Disability (IDPWD)
What is IDPWD?

2006 is the 25th Anniversary of International Day of People With a Disability (IDPWD) that was designated by the United Nations to celebrate the talents, skills and abilities of people with a disability all over the world.
Since its inception, December 3 each year has been an opportunity to celebrate the abilities of millions of people with a disability and to challenge society's stereotypes around disability.
In NSW, International Day of People with a Disability is supported by the NSW Government and organised and funded by the NSW Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care. There is an exciting program of inclusive events offered by community, cultural, sporting and disability organisations around Australia. Events take place in the month leading up to and on Saturday 3 December.
Accessible Arts coordinates the 'Accessing the Arts' IDPWD Program. The project brings together arts and cultural organisations to work towards an event, project or policy that is inclusive of people with disabilities.
IDPWD is in it’s 3rd year of the DADHC promotional campaign "Don't DIS my Ability." This theme will continue in 2006 with new ambassadors and thought provoking photographs.
Join in the action and celebrate International Day of People with a Disability.
