Mobility Cup 2008

Californian Chris Everson finishes 12th in the Gold Fleet in Mobility Cup 2006.

Mobility Cup, Canada's annual international regatta for sailors with disability, will be in Montreal next year. The regatta is North America's flagship for sailors with physical disability and North America's biggest and longest-running adaptive sailing event. It was first hosted in 1991 in Vancouver and has been growing ever since as it travels across Canada.

The AbleSail Network (ASN) board unanimously voted at its annual general meeting to accept AQVA Montreal's bid to host the event.

The event will be held at Pointe Claire Yacht Club, between Monday, August 25 and Friday, August 29, 2008. This will include one training day and four days of racing.

The goal is to have a fleet of 20-25 Martin 16s, allowing 40-50 sailors to take part in gold and silver fleets. Venues have already been lined up to provide accessible accommodation.

Longtime volunteer Paula Stone will be regatta chairperson. Paula can be contacted by emailing pstone@videotron.ca
