Simon Minty

Simon has been a Partner and Director of Minty & Friend since 2001. He has a Masters in Disability Management at Work and a BSc. (Joint Hons) Philosophy and Sociology. Before Minty & Friend, Simon worked for Barclays Bank for eight years as a trainer.

Simon is an Associate to the Employer's Forum on Disability, (EFD) and Broadcasters and Creative Industries Disability Network (BCIDN).

He has been working with British broadcasters over the last ten years including writing, presenting and advising on content related to disability. Clients include the BBC, ITV, C4, Five as well as several independents such as Wall to Wall and Endemol. He has worked with Sky News training Senior Editors and Managers as well as spent a day in their live news centre. He's currently working 3 months of the year in the USA on a project to help improve and make more accurate, US broadcast news' reporting on disability.

He has produced five videos including the 'Bigger Picture', 'Just Ask' and 'Independence 2000'. He co-produced and performed in the sell out Edinburgh Fringe show "Abnormally Funny People" in 2005 as well as being the producer of the award winning documentary of the same. This show currently plays monthly at the Soho Theatre.

He is the lead consultant for many organisations (public and private sector) assisting them with their change programmes in relation to disability. Areas of work have included strategy and policy development, recruitment and retention, promotion to and serving disabled customers, managing absence and performance, setting up disabled staff networks, the legislation and reasonable adjustments, developing scholarship programmes for disabled undergraduates. He has recently been supporting leading Investment Banks in delivering their disability strategies in the UK, Far East and USA.

Simon has personal experience of disability, being of short stature and of limited mobility. He enjoys comedy and has written comedy sketches for BBC Radio 4, Sky and Channel 4. He's been published in various in national and international disability press and appeared on many television programmes as a commentator and expert. He is a keen traveller and won the Travel X Travel Writer of the Year 1999 - Best Television Feature for his Channel 4 Travelog programme in China.
